Well, I'm better now

Man, that was not a fun week at all. I was really badly ill and it has taken quite a while for me to feel human again.

So I'm back to my tired weary self, which is nice.

I'm totally out of touch with the world, and have a ridiculous backlog of work to do. What's going on in the world (bearing in mind I only want to hear nice things)?

Bitter, your toon made me think of "Alien" with the thing coming out of Joh Hurt's stomach.

Regarding news- other than local sports teams, which I am sure you don't care about (Baseball here, for the world series), the big news in all the media has been balloon boy, and the movie version of "Where the Wild Things Are:, did fantastically on it's opening weekend. Should be a good movie. Hope to see it before it goes DVD.

Glad you are feeling better. ;-)

And my President got a Nobel Prize.

Well, there was this fun episode when America forgot all of their problems to follow the live transmission of a UFO balloon —it's just as how Reagan foretold 20 years ago! :-P

RPJ- was it Ronald Reagan, or Nancy and her astronomer?

Someone please tell me why this country is glued to this non event, me included? I worked in a news room and I have never seen anything like this capturing this country's imagination, what does that say about us to the rest of the world? (shudder).

Dear Sir,

I have an admission to make. When I saw this cartoon I thought "My God, He's doing the Elephant Man and Alien at the same time! If he does Caligula he'll be the complete John Hurt!"

I could have hidden this thought, but I figured you would be more amused than offended.

I think the same thing happened during the Depression, with a story of a boy that fell on a well that was transmitted live on the radio (even Woody Allen talked about it on his movie "Radio Days", that's why I recall it). An attempt to find a connection with something on a human level, amid all the problems that loom on a global scale, perhaps?

Or perhaps is just good old-fashioned morbidity :-P

But it was a complete hoax.
